What the Face Up Method works on

Sculpt & glow

Works the facial muscles and fascia so contours look more defined and the skin looks brighter.

Jaw tension

Slow, deep work on the jaw muscles that helps release tension from clenching and stress.

De-puff

Lymphatic strokes toward the neck to move fluid and ease a heavy, puffy look.

Breath & posture

Neck, shoulders and breathing are part of the session, because they shape how the face holds itself.

Deep relaxation

Calm, unhurried touch. Clients describe it as “coming home to your own face.”

The Face Up Method

Buccal facial massage, more than a facial.

Deep, slow touch for the face, jaw and neck: fascia work, lymphatic strokes, buccal (inside-the-cheek) release, breath and relaxation.

The FaceUp Method, created by Olga Newman, is a hands-on facial sculpting massage. It works on the facial muscles, the fascia around them and the lymphatic pathways of the face and neck, and it takes into account how stress, posture and habit shape the face. It is sometimes called sculptural face-lifting massage or buccal massage.

Most facials stay on the surface. This one works deeper: into the masseter and temporalis, the muscles you chew and clench with, and, from inside the mouth, toward the deeper jaw muscles. The aim is a face that looks more lifted and defined, feels lighter and looser, and a nervous system that has had a proper rest.

The buccal part

What sets the Face Up Method apart is the buccal, or intra-oral, work. External massage only reaches the outer surface of the jaw muscles. With medical-grade gloves and careful hygiene, the practitioner also works from inside the cheek, so the muscle is released from both sides. It feels unusual for a minute, then most people find it surprisingly relieving. Natalia checks in throughout, and you can pause at any time.

Jaw tension and clenching

A lot of people clench or grind without realising it, which can leave the jaw muscles tight and the face looking tired, heavy or wider at the jaw. The Face Up Method helps release that muscle tension, and many clients say their jaw feels noticeably looser and lighter afterwards.

An honest note

This is a relaxation and facial-sculpting massage. It is not registered massage therapy, and it doesn’t diagnose or treat TMJ disorder, bruxism or any medical condition. If your jaw pain is persistent, please see your dentist or doctor first. Results are visible but temporary, and they build with regular sessions.

Where it works

The muscles behind a tense, tired face.

Three areas get most of the attention. Simple anatomy, no miracle claims.

  • MasseterThe chewing muscle many of us clench under stress. When it’s tight the jaw feels heavy and can look wider.
  • Deep jaw musclesThe pterygoids sit deep inside the jaw. External massage can’t reach them; gentle buccal work gets closer.
  • Lymphatic pathwaysLight, directional strokes toward the neck help move fluid, so the face looks less puffy and the contours come back.

The masseter

The masseter, one of the body’s strongest muscles

The masseter closes the jaw and does most of the work of chewing. Under stress many people clench it through the day and night without noticing. Over time it can feel tight and tender, and a well-used masseter can make the lower face look wider.

In the Face Up Method it is worked from the outside, along the cheek, and from the inside of the mouth, so the whole thickness of the muscle is reached. Clients usually feel the difference as a jaw that is looser and lighter.

The deep jaw muscles

The pterygoid muscles, deep at the jaw joint

The medial and lateral pterygoids connect the skull to the lower jaw and move it side to side. They are involved in chewing, speaking and clenching, and they sit too deep for ordinary facial massage to reach.

Working gently from inside the mouth lets the practitioner get closer to this area. Many clients say their jaw feels more relaxed after the first session. If you have a diagnosed jaw condition, check with your dentist or doctor before booking.

Lymphatic drainage pathways

The face and neck’s lymphatic network

The face has a fine network of lymphatic vessels that carry fluid toward the nodes in the neck. Long flights, salty food, heat, poor sleep and tension can all leave the face looking puffy and heavy.

The Face Up Method follows those pathways with light, specific strokes toward the neck. As fluid moves, the face tends to look less swollen and more sculpted.

Techniques

Mostly hands, a few tools.

Buccal (intra-oral) massage

With medical-grade gloves, work on the inside of the cheek toward the jaw muscles that external massage can’t reach. The part most people remember.

Fascia & sculpting work

Slow, deep strokes and gentle lifting along the jaw, cheekbones, temples and brow, so the face looks more defined.

Lymphatic strokes & gua sha

Light, directional strokes and smooth stone tools that move fluid toward the neck to ease puffiness.

Your session

Your Face Up Method session, step by step.

About 75 minutes the first time, 60 after that. Each session is tailored to how your face and jaw respond.

  1. 01

    Talk and look

A short conversation about what you notice: clenching, puffiness, a tired look, or simply wanting to relax. Natalia looks at your face, jaw movement and posture.

    • Your goals: sculpting, de-puffing, jaw tension, or all three
    • Health check: dental work, recent fillers, anything that changes the plan
    • What to expect: how the buccal part feels, before it starts
  2. 02

    The massage

Outside first, then inside, then outside again to finish.

    • External massage: face, jaw, neck and shoulders to warm the muscles
    • Buccal work: gloved, gentle release inside the cheek
    • Sculpting: fascia work along the jaw, cheekbones and brow
    • Lymphatic strokes: toward the neck, to de-puff
  3. 03

    Afterwards

Most clients see a more lifted, less puffy face in the mirror and feel their jaw looser.

    • Straight away: lighter jaw, brighter skin, a calmer head
    • Mild tenderness: possible in very tight muscles, usually gone within a day
    • Over a few days: the de-puffed look often keeps settling

Aftercare

Aftercare & how long it lasts.

First few hours

Let the skin breathe

Skip heavy make-up for 4–6 hours. A little redness fades quickly. Drink plenty of water.

First 24 hours

Rest the jaw

Mild soreness, like after a workout, is normal. Avoid gum and very chewy food for a day. Sleep on your back if you can.

Days 2–5

It settles in

The de-puffed, sculpted look often keeps improving for a few days as fluid moves and the muscles settle.

Weeks 2–4

Plan the next one

Results are temporary. For many people the jaw stays looser for a few weeks; regular sessions help it last. It varies with stress and habits.

Between sessions

Gentle cleanser

A mild, non-stripping cleanser for a couple of days afterwards.

Hydration

A hydrating serum and plenty of water help the skin keep its fresh look.

Self-massage

A light facial oil and a few simple strokes Natalia can show you to do at home.

Questions

Before you book.

What is the Face Up Method?
A hands-on facial sculpting massage created by Olga Newman. It combines deep external massage of the face, jaw and neck, buccal (inside-the-cheek) work with gloves, fascia work, lymphatic strokes and relaxation. Clients come for a more defined, less puffy face and a jaw that feels looser.
Where can I get buccal massage in Grand Cayman?
At AcuDermSkin, Tropic Centre, 18 Earth Close, Unit 9, West Bay Road, on the Seven Mile Beach corridor. It is by appointment; send a request with your dates and Natalia will confirm a time.
How much does it cost?
We don’t publish prices for Grand Cayman. Pricing is shared when you book, before anything is confirmed.
Does buccal massage hurt?
Most people find it surprisingly comfortable. The inside-the-mouth part feels unusual at first; you may feel pressure or tenderness where the muscles are tight, and that usually gives way to relief. Gloves are worn throughout, Natalia checks in as she works, and you can stop at any time.
Does it help with TMJ?
It helps release muscle tension in the jaw, which is why many people who clench say their jaw feels looser and more comfortable afterwards. But it is a relaxation and facial-sculpting massage, not a medical treatment: it doesn’t diagnose or treat TMJ disorder and it doesn’t replace your dentist or doctor. If you have a diagnosed jaw condition, check with them first.
Is it massage therapy?
No. It is not registered massage therapy. Natalia is a practitioner with more than ten years in medical aesthetics, and this is a cosmetic and relaxation treatment.
How long do the results last?
It varies. For many people the jaw stays looser for a few weeks, depending on stress and habits, and the de-puffed, sculpted look lasts days to weeks. Regular sessions help the effect build. If you live on the island, Natalia will suggest a rhythm; if you’re visiting, one session on its own is still worth it.
Is it safe with dental work, Botox or fillers?
Usually, yes, with timing. Crowns, bridges and implants are generally fine; wait two weeks after dental surgery, and two weeks after fillers. It is fine after Botox. Tell us about any recent work when you book and Natalia will advise; if in doubt, ask your dentist.
Is it an alternative to jaw Botox?
It works differently: instead of relaxing the muscle with an injection, it releases tension by hand, with no needles and no downtime. The effect is gentler and builds with regular sessions. It doesn’t replace medical or dental care.
Can I combine it with Qi Beauty?
Yes. The Face Up Method releases the jaw and face; Qi Beauty adds lift and glow. Ask when you book and Natalia will suggest the order.
